Flashing Embedded Linux to VF61

Hello,

I have a Colibri VF61 and a Colibri Evaluation Board Rev. 3.2.
The Colibri was delivered with an Embedded Windows CE.
How can I put a Linux image to this VF61 ?

Hallo Alex,

thank you for your reply.

I found this article already, but the description seems to be for an Ubuntu-PC.
I am working with a Windows-PC and so my prolem is to get the required image.
Please tell me how can I download it without opkg, dpgk or apt-get ?
Is there an URL where i can download it ?

Best regards

hi @Hermann

For Vybrid, you need to Install a Linux Distribution on your Host. If you have a Windows PC, then you can install a dual boot or just use Linux on Virtual Machine.

Hallo Jaski,

thank you for your reply.

The jumpers FTDI on the picture to step 10 are shown in their wrong position.
That was the last stone on the way.

But now the VF61 runs with Linux.

hi Hermann

Perfect that it works. Thanks for the feedback.

By the way, there is no picture at step 10 at the link you provided.

Best regards, Jaski

Hallo Jaski,

sorry.

The picture of the RS232 jumpers is at step 16.

The picture is showing the SD card slot. The jumpers for using the Uart over USB cable (X27) are correct. What is your issue?

Hallo Jaski,

I have no issue.

But I had, when I tried to flash the image with jumpers it the position as shown.
I fetched my multimeter and could not measure voltage against pin 5 at any pin, neither pin 2 nor pin 3.

After I put the jumpers to the other side to RXD RTS TXD and CTS it worked.
I 'm still working so via UART (RS232) and running PuTTY on PC.

Are you using X27 USB connector or X25 UART connector?

As may be seen from the unboxing our default setup proposes to use the built-in FTDI USB-to-serial adapter/chip of the Colibri Evaluation board by connecting a USB Type-B to Type-A cable to X27. If on the other hand, you would like to use the lower X25 DSUB9 RS-232 connector you certainly have to make sure the jumpers JP17, JP19, JP20 and JP21 are in the 1-2 position as explained in the Colibri Evaluation board datasheet.

Hello,

I used X25 Bottom UART A.
I didn’t know, that PuTTY can work with USB.

Best regards

You are very welcome.
