Easy Installer Error downloading or writing image

Hi,

I’m trying to build an image for a Colibri iMX7D 1GB following this guide.
I’m working from Windows10 on a virtual machine running Ubuntu 18.04 (Virtualbox).

I then transfer the oe-core/build/deploy/images/colibri-imx7-emmc folder on an USB drive and use it to flash the image on the board via Toradex Easy Installer (v 2.0b7).

I’m experiencing 3 issues:

  • sometimes the image on the drive is not listed at all in the available images in Toradex Easy Installer
  • sometimes an image is found but is listed as not compatible with the module
  • even when the image is listed and compatible, I try to install it but the following error message is shown:

Error downloading or writing image

xz: (stdin): File format not recognized

tar: This does not look like a tar archive

tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

Can you please tell me what I’m doing wrong?

If build completed successfully you should get a tar file which contains Toradex Easy Installer compatible image. For example: Colibri-iMX7-eMMC_Reference-Minimal-Image-Tezi_5.2.0+build.7.tar Please check for details here.

Then you need to untar that file to USB drive. And use it to flash Colibri module.
