Boot hang on Apalis iMX8QM4GB IT V1.0B

After following the instructions here Build Apalis iMX8/Colibri iMX8X OpenEmbedded/Yocto Project Bring-up Image to update uboot. The system now infinitely resets as in the screenshot. It also will no longer boot into recovery, with the jumper in place it no longer resets continuously but recovery mode does not come up through the serial connection.

I got it passed the posted issue with the uuu tool, however now it hangs at the previous issue.

HI @matthewh628

Welcome to the Toradex Community!

Could you provide the software version of your module?
Which carrier Board are you using?

Which Version of Toradex Easy Installer are you using?

Best regards,
Jaski

Hi @jaski.tx

Software version: I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking for here, we make our own custom image which we have running and working on the same model of iMX8 and the same carrier board attempting to be used with this one. From a conversation my company has had in the past with Toradex it’s my understanding that the uboot on this device was never updated for the timings of this module.

Carrier board: Ixora V1.1B

Easy Installer version: Did not use Easy Installer, used the directions here We used the same instructions for the other iMX8 using the same image and it worked just fine.

Hi

cat /etc/issue or 'uname -a`

Ok, so you did not update to the latest Bsp 3.0b3.

Did not use Easy Installer, used the directions here We used the same instructions for the other iMX8 using the same image and it worked just fine.

This tooling was for a early Bring-up phase? Now we recommend using Toradex Easy Installer.
Could you use Toradex Easy installer to flash Bsp 3.0b3 on your module and provide an error log?

Best regards,
Jaski

I tried using Easy installer and the script ran successfully

on my computer however over serial the iMX8 is outputting this error.

Could you share a complete log with your commands and output in text format instead of a printscreen?

Hi

How did you extract the Toradex Easy Installer Image?
Do you see this error on the other iMX8 module too?

Best regards,
Jaski

Hi,

How did you extract the Toradex Easy Installer Image?

I unzipeed it with the linux command unzip.
I’m testing on the other iMX8 now, but the iMX6 Easy Installer worked fine on one of our iMX6 modules

EDIT: It does work on our other iMX8 module

HI @matthewh628

Thanks for your feedback.

If one iMX8 module is not working, then it might have some hardware issues. We are sorry, that you have this experience with our hardware.

You could file up a RMA and mention this community thread as comment.

Best regards,
Jaski
