Apalis TK1 USB2.0 X7 not responsive

Dear all,

I seem to have trouble with a USB port on my brand new set Apalis TK1 and Ixora V1.1A carrier board. The USB2.0 port on the X7 connector does not recognize any device I plug in. The X8 connector works flawlessly. I am running Jetpack 3.1 build with Apalis-TK1_LXDE-Image_2.7b3-20170630.tar.bz2. I have to mention that the USB port also didn’t detect any devices with the out of the box linux image that was installed, of which I don’t know the version number.

Plugging in any device in the X7 USB board also doesn’t register in dmesg, but lsusb does list the following three USB ports.

ubuntu@tegra-ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Could this be a hardware defect, or is it software related?

Hi Bvo,

It’s because a H/W change on Ixora carrier board V1.1A, we swap USBH2 with USBH3, it will work fine with almost all our current Apalis series modules out of box except Apalis TK1, on Apalis TK1, the USBH3 signal is connect to the K20 MCU instead of Tegra K1 SoC, and till now we didn’t provide support on this USBH3 bus in K20 firmware, so the Ixora board USB 2.0 port(X7) can’t work with Apalis TK1, you can use the other two USB ports(X8) or even more with a USB Hub.

And for more detailed info please find below Ixora PCN - https://docs.toradex.com/104003-pcn-ixora-v1-0a.pdf

Thanks and Best Regards

and till now we didn’t provide support on this USBH3 bus in K20 firmware

@hai.tx there are really no plans to ever support any such as a generic solution would be impossibly difficult to implement. A customer could however make use of it in his custom firmware for very special purpose e.g. in conjunction with other custom FreeRTOS functionality.

Hi All,

For our project, availability 2 USB3.0 hosts/ports is mandatory. On the release page I see that a solution is planned for Release 2.8b3, by means of issue 21271. Will this be made available for a L4T release like Apalis-TK1_L4T-Image-Tezi_21.6-2.7b5?

Best regards,

Since L4T images are based on our BSP kernel, yes it will be included in L4T 2.8b3 image.
