Apalis iMX8QM HDMI output issue

Dear Support Team,

We are testing Apalis iMX8QM V1.1B/Ixora V1.1A hardware with Ycoto Linux reference multimedia image 5.0 BSP, and found that HDMI output doesn’t work normally under linux (the display is a 13.3 inch HDMI display with up to 4K resolution and works well with toradex easy installer 2.0b6 and former BSP 3.0), no signal output to display, and the dmesg is as below -

root@apalis-imx8:~# dmesg |grep drm

Have tried with Ycoto linux reference multimedia monthly release 5.0.0-devel-202009+build.2 and latest 5.0.0-build.3 on 20201006, both have same issue.

Also have tried another 2 model Dell desktop 1080P monitor, the first one is an old model E2211H, dmesg shows as below and seems no issue, but the display has no signal with “input timing is not supported …” prompt message on the screen.

root@apalis-imx8:~# dmesg |grep drm

the second one is a newer model Dell P2219H, it works well when plugging to device before booting, but if hot plugging the HDMI connector after booting, the screen output will freezing, mouse pointer also no response.

Thanks and Best Regards

Simon

Those dmesg snippets are pretty much useless please include full console outputs as a text files.

Please note that this former monthly release is no longer supported and needs upgrading to a later quarterly or monthly release.

Hi Marcel,

please find full console output in the attachment, the test is based on tdxref-oe-prod-horw/dunfell-5.x.y/release/3/apalis-imx8/tdx-xwayland/tdx-reference-multimedia-image/teziimage/Apalis-iMX8_Reference-Multimedia-Image-Tezi_5.0.0+build.3 image.link text

Hi, I am having the same problem with an Apalis IMX8 Quad Plus / Ixora 1.2. The HDMI screen works for the easy installer, but shows nothing when booting the TDX reference multimedia image.

Was this problem resolved somehow?

Thanks and best regards,
Paul
