Dear Toradex Team,

What is the current lifecycle status of the MM70-314-310B1 connector?

It shows zero stock at the main authorized distributors. Also, JAE Electronics makes no mention of it (or of the MM70 series) on its website or in its catalogs.

Does it mean this connector is either EOL or NRFND?

I’d like to get information from JAE Electronics about the lifecycle, not a PN recommendation that suits Apalis. Do you have an official statement from JAE Electronics that this part is still active and being produced?

Hardware Service Partners and design modifications are not an option (no redesign).

The list of other MXM3 connectors offers options that require a PCB redesign, because of not having SnapLock option (“Module needs to be screwed down”).

Can you please connect a person from Technical Support to this thread?

I don’t have access to official statements from JAE Electronics regarding the MM70-314-310B1 connector’s current production status or lifecycle information in the available sources(1).

However, I can share that Toradex has experienced connector supply challenges. In the Ixora V1.3A Product Change Notification, it’s documented that “The MXM3 socket MM70-314-310B1-1-R300 for the Apalis SoM edge connector has been replaced with the MM70-314B1-2-R300 (due to an EOL of the former)”(2).

This indicates that the original MM70-314-310B1-1-R300 connector was end-of-life, and Toradex moved to the MM70-314B1-2-R300 replacement for the Ixora carrier board(2).

We talked with the manufacturer, and it is not in EOL, but they already allocated all the produced stock to customers. This is why you’re seeing “zero stock”.

Could you please provide an update on this matter? I am currently working on a project that relies on Apalis modules, and I am completely unable to move forward without the MM70-314B1-2-R300 connector.

Any guidance on sourcing this part, whether through Toradex directly, an authorized distributor, or an alternative supplier, would be greatly appreciated.

Toradex does not sell components, but you can reach the manufacturer’s authorized distributors for the connector. To get the authorized distributors, I recommend checking with JAE Electronics directly.

Thanks for the clarification.

Our situation is the following: we already have a carrier board designed for Apalis iMX8 with the MM70-314B1-2-R300, and our immediate need is to buy this connector to assemble the boards.

Since it is currently very difficult to source, we may need to create a new PCB revision if no practical purchase option is available.

In this case, could Toradex please comment on the Amphenol 10151114-001TLF as a possible alternative for a new Apalis carrier board revision?

We understand it is a 314-pin MXM 3.0 connector, but with 5.0 mm stack height instead of 3.0 mm. We can adapt the mechanical design if needed. Our main concern is whether it can safely and reliably mate with Apalis iMX8 modules.

Has Toradex ever tested or validated this connector with Apalis modules? If not, is there any other connector currently available that Toradex would recommend for a new PCB revision?

Were you able to proceed with your custom board development?

As far as I’m aware, we haven’t tested new connectors in a while, since Apalis is already a validated module.
